David began a disciplined daily practice of yoga in the mid-90s when living in San Francisco and looking for an art that would stimulate his entire being. As an athlete he was attracted to the dynamic practice of Ashtanga Vinyasa and was inspired by the discipline it takes to practice this method effectively. Having been a Personal trainer and Health club manager for a decade it was a shock to find a discipline so physical and yet designed to transcend the ego rather than pamper it. David’s main influences then were Founders of Yogaworks in LA Senior Ashtanga teachers Chuck Miller and Maty Ezraty (visit chuckandmaty.com for more info) under whom he studied with daily for two years. They taught him how to practice dynamically yet with humility (Satya) and with an emphasis on safety (Ahimsa). Incorporating alignment principles of the Iyengar method with the honesty of the breath into a dynamic flowing practice has allowed David to strengthen his body/mind while challenging it to expand simultaneously.

David has completed two teacher training programmes (Yogaworks in Los Angeles, It’s Yoga in San Francisco) and two extensive apprenticeships with senior teachers. He is a E-RYT 200 with Yoga Alliance and has studied in India, Australia and the US extensively. He has studied under various Senior teachers in both the Ashtanga and Iyengar Methods including Richard Freeman, Aadil Palkhivala and Birjoo Mehta. On his third visit to India he attended courses with the Chanchanis' of Yog-Ganga in Dehradun and the Iyengar Institute in Pune. His research includes Ayurveda, various Yogic texts and Chi Kung practices. He is currently influenced by a daily practice in the preludes of the Shadow School while under the guidance of the founder of this system Zhander Remete.

David is also a certified Somatic Movement Educator (SME) through the International Institute of Somatic Movement Education based in Tamil Nadu, South India. SME is a neuromuscular re-education system that facilitates sensory- motor learning to gain greater voluntary control of the physiological process resulting in freedom of ease and agility of movement.

David prostrates in gratitiude to all his teachers, past and present. Any true knowledge he is able to pass on comes directly from their guidance, any mistakes he makes are purely his own. Om Namah Shiva
